The Grand Bahama Power Company wishes to apologize to the public for the interruption in power that occurred yesterday.
At approximately 4pm on September 7, during yesterday’s weather event, we experienced a disturbance on the system which caused our equipment protection systems to operate. As a result this led to an island wide loss of service.
Our crews were immediately deployed to begin assessing the situation and working to restore power to our customers.
By 6:45pm, we began restoring electricity supply to affected customers and the majority of customers were restored by 8:40pm
We are in the process of investigating what lead to yesterday’s event and will continue to work diligently on significantly minimizing incidents of this nature for our customers.
Once again we apologize to customers for the inconvenience caused.
