Committed to the cause
We know you count on us for safe, reliable energy to power your daily lives. We also know that this only part of our responsibility.
At Grand Bahama Power, we believe in being a corporate citizen that builds stronger communities through volunteerism and investment in our education, environment, social services, culture, and people.
We are committed to the betterment of neighborhoods across Grand Bahama and have financially supported initiatives over the years that have helped in developing enriched, healthy and prosperous communities we can all be proud to work and live in.
Organizations
We regularly support the following organizations:
Junior Achievement Bahamas
Grand Bahama Power actively supports Junior Achievement Bahamas (JA) – an organization designed to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship among Bahamian students. Through the years, we have served as a corporate partner for the local program, sponsoring participating student groups and providing JA advisors. We value the program’s mission to train the future influencers of our economy and recognize the importance of corporate partners, like ourselves, in achieving this goal.
The Beacon School
We have partnered with The Beacon School since 1998 to bring pottery courses to special needs students at the institution. The pottery course was introduced to aid the school’s therapy and work skills learning programs and, since its inception, has become an integral part of the school’s daily activities.
To date, the pottery sessions continue to prove effective for students. We are particularly proud of this partnership with The Beacon School and the contribution we make toward improving the quality of life for students there.
Special Olympics Grand Bahama
The Grand Bahamas Power Company is proud to be an annual donor to Special Olympics Grand Bahama. Our financial donations help facilitate training programs for athletes. The goal of the organization is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
To date, the Grand Bahama Special Olympic team works with just over 70 athletes ranging from ages 9 to 47 years old.
We also make financial contributions to:
- Grand Bahama Red Cross
- Cancer Association of Grand Bahama
- Grand Bahama Children’s Home
- Freeport Aquatics Club
- Emera Baseball Field
- Reachout Community Centre
- Grand Bahama Little League
- Hoytes Basketball
- Golden Eagles Track Team
