UNDERSTANDING YOUR BILL DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC – APRIL BILLS WILL BE ESTIMATED

CalTecCovid-19 Updates

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, Grand Bahama Power Company remains steadfast in our commitment to providing our customers with safe, reliable and affordable electricity.

As a result of the Emergency Orders by the Prime Minister that suspends non-essential operations to the general public to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, GBPC metermen will not read customers’ meters during April.

For the month of April, GBPC will estimate customers’ bills. The estimation will be based on customers’ average daily consumption history from the previous three months.

Once normal operations resume and GBPC metermen are able to safely read customers’ meters, and adjustment will be made to customers’ accounts to reflect actual usage.

While estimating is not our preferred method of establishing customer bills, under the circumstances, it is our only option.

As the impacts of COVID-19 unfold, we understand this may be a difficult time for some of our customers; that is why on March 17, GBPC temporarily suspended disconnections for non-payment.

At this time, the suspension of disconnections for non-payment remains in effect, and we will provide customers with ample notice prior to resuming normal operations.
